The Bar-Gate access control system

In 2024, a new access control system called Bar-Gate was launched.

The main idea is the creation of a unified system that handles the entry to the Ramat Gan campus in a monitored manner. There are two main modules in the system - the first module is vehicle entry (the technology involved is known as LPR - License Plate Recognition) and the second module is pedestrian entry (which uses a battery of technologies, some of which are cutting-edge such as BLE technology - Bluetooth Low Energy).

At the current stage, that the system provides services mainly to the populations of the academic and administrative staff, students, and dormitory residents.

Vehicle entry module

Those who have a university identity in Microsoft 365 and who are entitled to enter the university by car, can add the license plate of their car to the system data base.

In addition, the system allows every university department to give a one-time entry permits for visitors and guests as well as entry permits for conferences and other events.

Pedestrian entry module

Those who have a university identity in Microsoft 365, can generate a digital entrance code which will be stored on the mobile phone device to be used for entry, using the turnstile, even when the entrance gate is unmanned. Guidance, on activating the digital entry certificate, appears below.
